This city is the anchor to the metropolitan area referred to as Greater Boston, which has a population of 4.5 million people and ranks at the tenth position among the largest metropolitan areas in the nation.
The city of Boston was founded on the Shawmut Peninsula in 1630 by English Puritan colonists. Several major events have taken place in this city during the later years of the eighteenth century. They include the Boston Tea Party and the Boston Massacre. Some early battles fought during the American Revolution like the Siege of Boston and the Battle of Bunker Hill took place within the city and its surrounding areas.
The area of the city has gone beyond the Shawmut Peninsula through municipal annexation and land reclamation. Boston turned into an important manufacturing center and shipping port after America attained independence from England. The rich history of this city is one of the attractions that bring large numbers of tourists to the city annually. For example, the Faneuil
Hall attracts more than twenty million people each year.

America and in the world.
The city has numerous cultural roots just like those of the New England region such as the dialect of Eastern New England, which is referred to as Boston English and the regional cuisine that emphasizes on dairy products, salt and seafood. There are several ornate theaters in this city and they include the Boston Opera House, Cutler Majestic Theater, the Colonial Theater, the Orpheum Theater and Citi Performing Arts Center. The city hosts many free concerts mainly because of the colleges that specialize in music
In order to know where concerts are being held, you can look at the events calendar found at the websites of schools. You can refine your research by finding the colleges that specialize in the kind of music that you want to listen to. For instance, if you are fan of contemporary music, jazz or other music that is rooted in the culture of African Americans, you can check out for events hosted by the Berklee College of Music.
