Citi Performing Arts Center – Wang Theater

The Citi Performing Arts Theater, also known as the Wang Theater of Boston, MA is one of the most popular theaters for all types of talent. The building also houses the Shubert Theater, which is separate from the Citi Performing Arts Theater. Located in the Boston Theater District, the Citi Theater attracts all kinds of talent. You can see the most popular opera, ballet, and music acts at this theater when they come to town. The theater is thought to be a very important part of the culture of Boston. They sponsor many different programs to keep the performing arts a valued aspect of the city.

Originally opened in 1925, the Citi Performing Arts Theater was first named the Metropolitan Theater. It thrived for a long time, but fell into disrepair sometime in the 1970s. In 1980, it was turned into a not-for-profit center and underwent extensive renovations to help revive it to the state of it’s once glorious 1920s appearance. The theater became the Wang Theater thanks to a very large donation by a doctor of the same name. The Citi Performing Arts Theater didn’t become known by the Citigroup name until a 15-year contract was signed with Citigroup.

The Citi Performing Arts Theater can hold up to 3600 people. In addition to popular musical and other performing arts acts, the theater can be used for corporate or private events. Smoking is absolutely prohibited inside the theater, and children are allowed, but must have a ticket. Some shows may not be appropriate for very young children.
